Ignatius (“IG”) Ukpaka

After a brief stint with Agip Energy in Milan, he started work with Nigerian Agip Oil Company in Lagos in December 1988. His career trajectory in the banking industry commenced with Allstates Trust Bank in 1990. He later joined Diamond Bank in 1992 where he rose to a manager level in 1995. IG joined Zenith Bank in 1996 and occupied various positions culminating in his elevation as General Manager (GM) in 2001. He was appointed Managing Executive Officer in Standard Trust Bank (now UBA) in 2004 to oversee the entire business of the Bank in the South.

In 2005 he was appointed Executive Director in Bank PHB where he superintended various strategic business units in commercial, energy and corporate banking. Upon departure from Bank PHB in December 2009, IG Ukpaka, along with a team of professionals set up Taurus Oil & Gas AND Taurus Capital (Investment and Advisory Firm) where he occupies the role of Group Managing Director (GMD).

A first class graduate of Economics from the University of Lagos in 1986. IG Ukpaka is a product of the Advance Management Program (AMP) of INSEAD and also holds a post graduate degree in business economics from Scuola Enrico Mattei, Italy. He has also attended various management courses around the world including Harvard Business School, Boston.
